WMS Spring Track 2022
Hello Dear Parents,
Coach Barajas is retiring this year form coaching Track and Field at WMS. We want to thank him for his years of dedication to our kids.
That being said… Destiny Wellenreiter and I (Rhonda Mauney) will be co-coaching our WMS Track Team this year. We both have 7thgraders on the team, and have helped with the team in the past. We are looking forward to meeting your students and getting started. We still have several coaching spots that need filled (throws and distance runners) as well as assistants for each event. Please reach out to us or Coach Leach our Athletic Director at email@example.com if you can help.
Pre-season conditioning is upon us and starts next Mon. Jan. 24. These practices are not mandatory, but are encouraged. It will be on Mon and Wed. only. We will meet at 4:15pmby the elementary school flagpole and will end at 5:30pm. We will look at basic running techniques as well as try out a few field events to see what the students are interested in.
Be sure that your child brings their Pre-season waiver. If they do not have their waiver, we will have to send them home due to school policy and insurance.

Track Season Begins Mon. Feb. 7
The Official season begins Monday, Feb. 7. These practices will be Mon- Th 4:15-5:30pm, and will be mandatory. Please be considerate of the coachs’ time and pick up promptly at 5:30pm. We will require a parent or Dr. note for missed practices. If three unexcused practices you are off the team. If you were not well enough to go to school that day, you do not come to practice. If you are running a fever, coughing, body aches, sore throat or test positive for Covid- do not come to practice.
If you suffer from asthma, please have your inhaler with you at all times.
It is very fulfilling to work with young people. We hope to help them develop a love for the sport, get them out in the fresh air and help them to get some exercise. We also want to focus on developing a good sense of character and sportsmanship, but most of all to have fun!
See you Monday!
Destiny Wellenreiter and Rhonda Mauney
