Dear Parents & Players -
I am reaching out to all of you regarding the upcoming summer/fall season. As of now, we don't know much about when we will be able to get back together to condition or when we can start tryouts. The coaches are planning our schedules for the upcoming season for a couple of contingencies around potential start dates. The coaches will be ready to go whenever we are allowed to start.
We need your help in making sure the players are doing as much as they can to get ready for the season by getting in shape and/or staying in shape through the summer. We normally would be doing our twice/week conditioning led by all of the coaches. In absence of that, we have created a few conditioning workouts that they can do on their own.
We have shared those conditioning workouts through HUDL to all players that had HUDL access last season. All 6th grade players have been moved to 7th Grade access, and all 7th grade players have been moved to 8th Grade access. We will continue to communicate to all players through HUDL with additional conditioning and training guides. We will also start to share some of the plays through HUDL.
We will know which kids have worked through the summer once we get to tryouts. Anyone not doing the workouts will fall behind and unfortunately will not be able to catch up if they do.
Additionally, we have been working on some new 'Football 101' videos that will be shared with all players - also through HUDL. The initial video shows how players should do all of the warm-up exercises correctly. Upcoming videos will include position-specific videos to show players what they can be working on to improve their craft at their position. We have some former and current Weddington High school greats that are working with us to show the specific drills & techniques in the videos. Position specific videos we have planned are WR, RB, OL, DL, LB and DB.
Please feel free to reach out via email if you have any specific questions and I will respond as soon as I can. I will announce my coaching staff in an upcoming communication. Please stay safe and healthy during this time. Looking forward to getting back out onto the fields and coaching your players.
