I would like to thank all of your children for a great evening last night. We had 34 of the 40 confirmed swimmers attend tryouts last night. It was crowded and a bit hectic, but each and every one was positive, attentive, and ready to try their best. I was very impressed with them as a group of young men and women. Also, a big thank you to our volunteers who assisted with timing to ensure each child received an accurate and fair time.

Picking the team is no easy task. Our girls team is extremely deep and strong, and I would expect them to be the team to beat in UCPS. Our boys team is getting stronger every year and I am excited to see their continued growth as a group. Whether your son or daughter made the team or not, and wants to expand on their competitive swimming opportunities, please look into local USA swimming, Junior Swim Leagues, neighborhood/ club summer leagues, and private lessons.

Congratulations to those selected to the 2022 WMS Swim Team.

Our first team practice will be Wednesday, November 2 @ 9pm. Please arrive no earlier than 8:50 and carpool where possible. If you plan to attend your USA Swimming team practices in lieu of WMS practices during the season, please let me know so I can plan accordingly.

Equipment:
  • Swimmers should have a competitive style suit for practices and competitions. I recommend going to Carolina Swim Shop within the SwimMAC facility as they are reasonably priced and should have all your in-pool needs.
  • Swimmers should have proper racing goggles which are fully adjustable. I recommend the Speedo Vanquisher or TYR Blackhawk.
  • I highly recommend a silicon or latex swim cap for all swimmers, but this is optional. You will be given 1 Weddington swim cap to be used at meets.
  • Swimmers cannot wear a Tshirt or swim shirt when practicing or competing. This is a safety issue.
I'm excited for this season and looking forward to a great year!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

All the best,
Coach Mike
