Welcome to the web site of the Weddington Middle School Athletic Booster Club(WMSABC). For those of you new to middle school sports programs, the only programs that Union County offers as "official" school supported sports are Boys and Girls Basketball and Basketball Cheer leading.
It is the mission of the Weddington Middle School Athletic Booster Club to ensure that our children have the opportunity to participate in interscholastic sports at the middle school level. The WMSABC is an approved parent organizaton recongnized by the Union County Schools. This association is a group of volunteers who work to provide the opportunity for WMS students to compete on teams against other Union County Middle schools. Without the WMS Booster Club, there would be no Middle School Sports program, other than Basketball and Basketball Cheerleading.
This organization receives no financial aid from the school system. This is the reason why there are fees associated with the sports that the Booster Club offers. Without the fees, it would not be possible to provide officials, equipment, or secure fields and facilities for our student athletes to play. We work as hard as we can to keep these fees affordable so that all students have the opportunity to participate.
In addition to the sports fees, the Booster Club raises money by selling Spirit Wear. We continually work with the Principal, Mr. Leake, to ensure that the spirit wear we offer is acceptable for the WMS dress code. All of the profits that are generated by the sale of spirit wear are invested into the programs.
It is the goal of the WMSABC Board to provide the best experience that we can to as many student athletes as possible. Please understand that this is an all volunteer program, from the Board of Directors, to the committee members, to the coaches of the teams, everyone is giving their time to create these opportunities for our middle school students.
The WMS Booster Club has established this new website as a way to improve communication with our student athletes and parents so that we can continue to build our programs into the best in Union County.
